So, I said I would wait until after Johnny's birthday to begin the madness of decorating for Christmas, and that is exactly what I did. Guess where you could find us the following afternoon? You betcha...out buying a new Christmas tree. I will be the first to admit I lack patience. When I get an idea for something I have to do it right then and there. All I can say is God bless my husband for putting up with me.
Anyway, once we had our new tree loaded up in the truck the plan was Chris would drop me off at the gym, then run to the grocery store to kill some time. We pulled up in the gym parking lot only for me to realize I forgot my headphones. We all know that a workout without music just isn't the same, so I ran back to the truck and decided to skip it. Chris gave me a funny look and said I wasn't really heading to the grocery store. He had other plans....to go pick up my Christmas present early and planned to surprise me with it when we got home. So in true Nikki fashion I ruined the surprise. Next thing you know we are in the parking lot at Best Buy. He asked me if I knew what the surprise was yet...honestly I was so confused. We hadn't been there in at least 5 years. The only thing we talked about getting that they would have was a DVD player for Johnny. Well it was much bigger than that.....this wonderful husband I am lucky to call mine surprised me with a laptop and an amazing camera so I can blog away and take photos all day long! Christopher said he knows how passionate I am about decorating and home design(I guess its all I talk about) and it was time I stepped it up a bit. No more iPhone pictures for this lady.
When we got home last night we(I) decided we should put the tree up! (Did I mention I have no patience?) I just could not WAIT! The last 5 years we kept things more on the Victorian side to go with the era of our old home. This year I couldn't wait to switch things up.
With moving into our new home I wanted a fresh start. I still wanted to enjoy the Victorian side of decorating with gold mirrors, pictures, lighting, etc. while also throwing in big fluffy pillows and lots of white. That is why we decided to go with a flocked tree instead this year. AND, because we went from 11ft. to 9th ceilings, so regardless 3 of our 5 trees would no longer work.
With that being said we have a few others to replace, so I can almost betcha I will be back sooner than later with tree in the dining room ;) .
